We have been involved in Labrador Retrievers for over 30 years and each breeding is carefully planned and researched to produced healthy puppies with exceptional temperaments. All of our breeding stock is health tested and cleared for hip and elbow dysplasia by radiographs which are sent to the OFA. I do heart exams with a board-certified cardiologist and Eye exams with a board certified ophthalmologist. I also do DNA testing for PRA ( Progressive Retinal Atrophy), EIC ( Exercise Induced Collapse ), and other genetic diseases as needed on each breeding pair.
All puppies are born and raised in the house until 4 weeks of age and are handled daily by both children and adults and are exposed to the sights and sounds of everyday living. At 4 weeks of age they are moved to a larger area where they have access to a large play yard, and their handling and socialization continues daily. They are introduced to cats, other dogs, and a variety of people that come to visit.
Puppies go to their new homes at 8 weeks of age and have had their first vaccine and appropriate de-worming. Puppies go home with a puppy pack, containing copies of the parents health certifications, puppies pedigree, microchip information, vaccine record, copy of the health guarantee and sales contract, and the AKC registration application. All pups are sold on AKC limited registration.
All puppies are microchipped before they leave. We strongly believe in taking lifelong responsibility for the puppies we produce. This provides a lifetime identification for the animal and assures us that if the owner can not be contacted, that we will be, and we can take responsibility for the dog if needed. This way they do not end up in a shelter or "rescue" system and can always be tracked back to us. If all dogs came from responsible breeders, there would be no need for the huge "rescue" organizations that we are seeing now. These are really becoming businesses of their own, and unfortunately are often just outlets for dogs that have been produced by backyard "breeders" or puppy mills.
Also, all pups come with lifetime breeder support ! You are welcome to contact me anytime for advice or information about feeding, training, any medical questions, etc. I really encourage my puppy buyers to stay in contact with me and lots of them do ! Almost all of my puppies are now sold by word of mouth from previous puppy buyers, which makes me very proud and is a testament to how much people love their Cimarron puppies !
