Welcome to our farm!
We are located in Lewis county in SW Washington state just south of Chehalis and only 5 miles off of I-5. We are very centrally and conveniently located to both the Seattle and Portland areas.
We have a beautiful 21 acre farm, and we love it here! With lots of pasture and trees, there is plenty of room for the horses and the dogs. We have Labrador Retrievers, Miniature Longhair Dachshunds, Quarter Horses, and our well-loved herd of barn cats !
I am Laura Steward DVM. I have been an animal lover from the beginning. I am a small animal veterinarian, I graduated from WSU in 1982, and then from the WSU Veterinary School in 1988. ( Go Cougs ! ). I was in private practice for 22 years. I have also been a dog breeder and have been involved in the sport of purebred dogs for over 30 years. I started showing Labrador Retrievers in 1984, and have shown and titled dogs in AKC conformation, obedience, and hunting tests.
I have always had a dream of having a big farm, full of horses, dogs, cats, and of course my kids. And I have always wanted to have a boarding kennel for dogs, somewhere that it would be a fun and natural place for them to stay. So we bought this lovely piece of property in Lewis County, WA in 2007, with the hopes of building just such a place. It is still a work in progress, probably always will be, as most farms are !
As of this year, ( 2022 ), I have made the very difficult decision to retire from breeding the Labradors. This is something I have done for many years, and its hard to say goodbye to all of my wonderful dogs.
We also have registered Quarter Horses. My younger daughter Jessica was very involved in showing horses in 4-H, and for her W.F. West High School Equestrian Team. She is now in college, our mares are retired from showing and are now producing some wonderful barrel racing and cow horse babies ! We are having a lot of fun with that now too, as well as our new dog love, the Miniature Longhair Dachshund ! They are amazing ! : )
